So, I was born in Ohio of US citizen parents. I didn't have to meet any provisions at all.

True. You received birthright citizenship (jus solis) Persons born abroad receive derivative citizenship, by birth, thur jus sanguinis. And not every American mother or father can convey US citizenship. Certain condition delineated by statute must be met. I provided you the current laws governing a child born to an Amcit mother and alien father abroad.

Yes. I’ve read them. By current law, in my opinion, Cruz is eligible for the presidency absent any ruling by the SCOTUS on the meaning of NBC.

However, by the original laws of the land, I don’t think he would have been. A Cuban citizen who moved to Virginia to study at William and Mary and then moved to Canada with a bride he picked up in the US could not have passed citizen at birth status to his child. That’s my opinion, but if you reflect on it, I think you’ll see why I arrived at that conclusion, whether you agree with it or not.

In my opinion, we should have an amendment that (1) gets rid of anchor baby interpretations, and (2) makes the presidency available only to 3rd generation Americans, not 2nd generation Americans. I’m pretty hard core about the background of loyalty to the US.

I don’t think Cruz Senior had any loyalty to the US at the time of Cruz’s birth.
