No kidding? Have you been noticing how Mitch McConnell has been more successful at passing Democrat legislation than anything resembling conservative legislation?

I have noticed how the GOP has controlled the House since 2011 and both houses of Congress since 2015 and Obama has gotten everything he wanted. It is not only McConnell. It is most of the GOP.

But surely, there must be one senator who could endorse Saint Ted. No one has stepped forward at this late stage. Why?

Well that's just it. Why would he need to work with the Washington Cartel that keeps spending our money to benefit all these horrible groups and agencies? In this case, we don't so much need a man who says "yes" as much as we need a man who says "no." In case you haven't noticed, the Cartel is firmly in control. They have the votes and the money. You have said yourself that no one wants to stick their head up (except for a few members of the House) and support Cruz because the Cartel will destroy them.

All he has to do is step on the brake for the big Washington Party. He doesn't have to work with them at all, he just has to make it harder for them to spend the money. All else follows from there.

They have enough votes to override a veto if the rubber really meets the road.

No money, no "party".

Congress controls the purse strings. If Cruz isolates himself from the process and is unwilling to make deals, he will be neutered. The only other possibility is to govern thru executive orders.

In any event, there is no way Ted wins the general election and he is fighting an uphill battle to become the nominee. Will Cruz win SC? NV? What will happen on Super Tuesday? What states will Cruz win?

It seems to me as if your statement above answers the subsequent question. It is most of the GOP. There may be people agreeing with Ted, but if they come forward, their chances for committee assignments or getting legislation moved forward are nil.

The leadership has taken a dim view of all things reformative.

They have enough votes to override a veto if the rubber really meets the road.

But a lot of the stuff they pass which benefits particular people would be awfully difficult for which to get an override. Then of course, there are the "let's make a deal" people, who will go ask a President Cruz what they could get from him in return for what they could give.

I don't think business would continue as usual. I think we would see some movement on reforming the system.

Congress controls the purse strings. If Cruz isolates himself from the process and is unwilling to make deals, he will be neutered. The only other possibility is to govern thru executive orders.

Congress allocates money. That's the problem. Sure, congress could say "no" on allocating money, but that is contrary to what they want to do anyway.

Congress could theoretically say "no", but do they ever?

What we need is someone who can say "No, you can't have that!" What's congress gonna do? Shut down the government? Like they have those kind of balls anymore. :)

In any event, there is no way Ted wins the general election and he is fighting an uphill battle to become the nominee.

My position is that if it is possible for a Hillary or a Bernie to win the Presidency, then we need to burn this nation down as fast as possible, and recreate something worthy from the ashes. Might as well let Bernie or Hillary run it into the ground. The problem is systemic, and the house can't be cleansed, it can only be burned.

I think ANY Republican candidate will beat either Hillary or Bernie.

Will Cruz win SC?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "Yes." I've been watching his ground game, and it's pretty strong. I would be more certain of this were it not for the fact that South Carolina is an open primary, but I am going to predict a Cruz win, though the polls say otherwise.

If he doesn't, i'm sure it's going to be due to that open primary crap.

Why on earth would a state let Democrats vote in a Primary? Isn't that contrary to the entire concept of a Primary?
