Donald Trump is now officially the Code Pink Republican. Or maybe he's the Daily Kos or Huffington Post Republican. How about the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Republican? I think that fits. Heck, we all saw it and we all heard it. Trump went full left loon on George W. Bush and 9/11, sounding like the most impassioned truther from the left. Did Maxine Waters do his debate prep?
Trump snarked childishly that Bush did not keep us safe on 9/11. Apparently Mr. Trump is not intellectually very curious about history. If he were, he would know that 9/11 was dreamed up, contemplated, financed, planned, and practiced on Bill Clinton's watch. This planning and practicing continued during the days of the hanging chads in Florida.
This is not to defend George W. Bush and his neocon nation-building fantasies and his capitulation to unions regarding the TSA and so on. I've been critical of Bush and Karl Rove since 2001 on these and many other issues.
But the truth matters.
And the truth is that the single biggest failure by the American intelligence community was foisted onto the CIA and the FBI by Clinton appointee Jamie Gorelick with her infamous "wall of separation" between the two agencies. They had their hands tied behind their backs -- thanks to a Clinton appointee.

Yes it is fortunate for you that you are not! For once we agree!
You are not a Conservative if you are willing to identify the principles as “labels” and shun them for victory and that's fine. You're call.
You gave me a list and I can identify the life issue and the tax issue as easy picking where Trump was promoting the other side - vigorously.
You keep coming back to me on a emotional angle. Like Trump is the only candidate who wants to rebuild the military or close the border when they all do.
I give you facts - he's a self admitted crony capitalist but my guess is most Trump supporters hate Soros and Buffet for the same thing. He's out recently against Scalia for Affirmative Action. His very non-Republican Universal health care comments and his idea of expanding Medicare part D by going after big Pharma.
I know you don't care about this stuff. It's the cult that matters. Not sure I can believe anyone who voted twice for Reagan supporting a candidate that was/is diametrically opposed to everything he fought for.
Our candidate carries a copy of the constitution with him on the Senate floor.
.........................................................
So what! Like he carries his bible around? I carry copies of the constitution around with me too and distribute them to people who are interested in what it says and what it means.
Cruz is not eligible. If he believed in the constitution, he would not run and try to hornswaggle the American people. Cruz is all for Cruz.
You just don’t get it do you? You are so controlled by cracker box labels you can’t think outside the box. You can’t see the forest for the trees!
Like I said, you can toss them aside and make excuses for Trump like because he wants to build a wall I'll ignore his Universal health care comments. Or because Trump wants to rebuild the military I'll ignore his support of Affirmative Action.
I look to Goldwater, Friedman and Reagan for guidance. They set the Conservative table and Reagan himself promoted it successfully.
If there were one or two issues Trump switched sides on over the years then I could see your point. But in his case it's every major plank of the principles we Conservatives hold sacred.
Look, you're not a Conservative and that's cool. But it seems a lot of Trump supporters expend a lot of cyberspace trying to convince us that he is. And we know he's not.
That said I'll support him if he gets the nod, just not while there's a true Conservative option.
You ended up shooting one of your own Cruz team members on an earlier post.
Why are you shooting me over a friendly question?
If you hadn't noticed, some of us are trying to dial it down a little around here. :)
There IS NO “true conservative” option. Cruz and Rubio are not eligible, Bush is GOPe, and the rest are not qualified either. Only Trump can turn us around economically which is the ship upon which America floats....and is now sinking because the seacocks have been opened and nobody is manning the pumps! You quibble about bottom of the bucket items. you’d better start worrying about top of the bucket list.
As I've said, Trump may say he believes in this or supports that but his history proves otherwise and his recent comments on health care, PP and Affirmative Action are liberal, not even moderate.
You want to assign deity status to one man, your call again.
I know Cruz is flawed (Hb-1 and VAT are two good examples, the former he's changed on, the latter I hope he can see the light that a flat tax is better) but I'm supporting the candidate who's been a Conservative his entire career, not one that decided he wanted to be one when he made the decision to run for office.
Trump clothing is made in Mexico and China.
I wrote the article and you cannot be more wrong. The idea of nation building and the Rovian Bushian weakness on communications is one thing.....but going total 9-11 truther on Bush is quite another.
Trump is right on the first two. He is dead wrong on the third. Period.
you simply will not confront the issue - which is HOW Trump attacked Bush and HOW MUCH it helps liberals by his use of liberal talking points.
A conservative, like myself, has always attacked Bush and Rove FROM THE RIGHT.....a liberal, like you and Trump, think attacking from the left is just fine.
There is a great article at National Review about Trump.
and yet, you cannot argue with a single syllable of what the article said.
Now, does that mean those who are supporting others are setting aside their principles too??
What's been particularly frustrating for Conservatives here lately is that we are constantly being told that Trump is a Conservative, which he is not, and if we don't support him then the candidate we support sucks not because of the belief system, but because he's Canadian, Goldman Sachs, stole Iowa, is mean......nonsense.
A perfect human does not exist, a perfect candidate is even less likely. I'd hate to frame this as “I'm supporting the lesser of two evils” because I believe that the legitimate knocks on Cruz are what they are, but he has a long history of supporting and promoting a very wide spectrum of Conservative principles. Trump has never been in the trenches for the cause and in a lot of instances, was promoting the other side vigorously.
Again, I'll vote for Trump if he gets the nod but as a Conservative, I can't when a better option is around.
Trump snarked childishly that Bush did not keep us safe on 9/11.
*****************************************************
It is plainly obvious he did not keep us safe or airplanes would not have been used to kill 3000 people in the US.
I don’t think Bush could have prevented it.
But he did leave too many Clinton holdovers in place.
He did REDUCE border and interior enforcement AFTER 9/11.
The latter was unforgivable from this voters perspective.
Any patriotic President would have secured the border FIRST before beginning foreign adventures.
You can’t have national security with open borders.
I catch all kinds of grief beacuse my principles don’t allow me to vote for ineligible candidates, but that is brushed aside rather easily by many.
>> Can I quote you on that? <<
A mentally unstable individual?
A pathological narcissist?
A man with no fixed ideology other than the worship of his own personality?
Sure. Quote away!
>> I would only add that Trump takes any perceived insult personally. Gets obsessed over it. You need look no further than his insane twitter war with a female tv reporter <<
Good point! I gotta guess it’s consistent with narcissistic personality disorder.
(But don’t quote me on that, ‘cause I’m not 100% sure.)
Find me the comment where I was trash talking, I dare you. Back your comment up. Or I will repeat it here if you’d like, your call. And even though the comment was deleted, it was repeated afterwards on multiple threads...because the only foul I committed was that it was the wrong thread to do it.
And stick your noob comment. I believe after 17+ years I’ve earned the right to call a one year trump noobie a noob...especially one who won’t even bother to answer a nicely asked question and instead tries to turn it back on me and another poster....just like all of the trumpeters do.
See...there you go again. We weren’t talking about Cruz were we? The question is about trump. Please review 165 and get back to me. My question was honestly and fairly asked. Why won’t you answer it?
