Justice Scalia's death has reminded me how important it is that Hillary or Bernie never get to appoint a SCOTUS justice

bears repeating.

My tag agrees with you. After Trump and Ted I have no interest in the rest.

Perhaps, even now, they are working together.

By apparently fighting it out like this, the kiddies get virtually no Oxygen and are left scrambling for scraps. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is one big act.

Anyway, we’ll see. If Trump picks Cruz as his running mate, then I’ll suspect my theory is correct.

They all missed a chance to go after the Democrat candidates and what a disaster they would be.

That should have been everyones focus.

I didn’t like Cruz OR Trump while that was going on.

And the audience was a national embarrassment.

I’m inclined to agree. I do wish they could put the needs of the nation ahead of themselves. That is two big, stubborn egos that need to back it down some notches though. And I’m doubtful there is the desire or the intent, in either of them.

I always vote and always vote Republican over Democrat, so the general election decision isn’t an issue for me.

But it’s hard to believe that, if almost every past GOP president picked some bad nominees, that political neophyte and recent purported convert to conservatism (or to conserving?) Trump will be skilled enough to pick a good one.

I said just a week or two ago in response to Trumpsters that the single most important issue to me is not immigration, but Supreme Court picks. As soon as the liberals get that 5th justice, they will pass unconstitutional laws in all their states and sue over other laws they dislike, knowing that they will win every single case in the end. You won’t get any immigration plan passed because the court will rule deportation unconstitutional.

If it gets that bad, the GOP Congress would almost have to go nuclear on the court and try to legislatively take away their jurisdiction on a host of issues. They’d have to bypass the filibuster to do it. All of that is uncharted territory and we can’t be sure McConnell, et al. could be persuaded to do it, or how long it would stand if Dems get Congress back later.

If Obama gets a nominee in, our only hope is that a liberal judge creates a vacancy (Ginsburg?) and the GOP president gets the court back in balance. So we want a president who can be trusted to make good picks. Even Jim Robinson posted in a recent article here discussing the Cruz/Trump conflict that he thought Cruz probably had in advantage over Trump in his ability to pick good nominees. That’s my feeling, and one reason I have remained convinced to support Cruz over Trump.

Donald didn’t attack Ted until Ted’s poll numbers increased.

At first Ted ignored it, or made jokes about it, but when Trump got really outrageous, Crus had to fight back, and DID.

Anybody notice how Rubio, and Trump both attacked Cruz at the debate?

Hmmmmmmm

You want a one way truce? Trump have always attack anyone who attack him. So as long as Cruz don’t attack him, he won’t attack him either. The ball is with Cruz

Cruz has been at war with the GOPe since before he was elected to the Senate.

Trump doesn’t need to call a truce. No one cares about the pissing match.

Go look at the Democrats — they are calling Hillary a Republican!

Reality TV at its best. Ohhhhh what fun

But but but what were the ratings for last night that is what is important.

How many people tuned in.

Did it beat Dancing with the Stars or some other freak show

Ted needs to stop lying, like saying Trump would appoint liberal judges when Trump was the only candidate to give names of who he might appoint: Diane S. Sykes and Bill Pryor.

Are they “liberals”? Or is that another Cruz lie?

Ted burned “principled” to ashes on the altar of winning in IA. And he got a LOT worse at the debate. He's punching way above his weight. I'll still vote for him as a nominee but the thrill is definitely gone.

BTW: I have changed. If Trump gets the nomination I will have to overlook my doubts and dislike of him and vote for him. Justice Scalia's death has reminded me how important it is that Hillary or Bernie never get to appoint a SCOTUS justice.

I'm a Cruzer that has been OK with Trump and I have both Cruz and Trump bumpers stickers on my vehicle {as well as "hillary for prison 2016"}. If I got to appoint the President, it would be Cruz, but we have these election thingies, so my appointment doesn't count.

Welcome aboard the sane train, it's going to pick up more people like us.

I beg cincinatus wife to stay off of the Cruz/Trump train and to put her curse on hildabutchbitch {and I will not ping the crazed one, her bats wake her in the cave when she is being mentioned}.

The problem with Cruz is that he is a liar to the core. Ergo, any truce will be violated by him.

No deal. Go Trump.

I don’t think they should call a truce.... I think about 2 more debates like this one, especially if Cruz keeps the negative ads about Trump during that time.... two more like this one and Trumpy may have a stroke on national television....

Trump is a crony capitalist, a part of the establishment for decades, and cannot be trusted because he has no principles. There can be no assurance that he will nominate anyone remotely acceptable for the Supreme Court. What’s to stop him from nominating a liberal? Loyalty to Conservatism or Liberty? He doesn’t believe in these ideals.

Yes, they have to! For the country’s sake.

Each is scared of the other and, I believe, Trump will not accept second place, Cruz will. They are damaging the chances of attracting Independents and Dems.

I am so demoralized after last night.
