Politics is a fast-paced and unpredictable game, and sometimes, unfortunate things happen. That's the best way I can describe what occurred on caucus night in Iowa when CNN implied that Ben Carson was dropping out of the Republican race, and the Cruz campaign swiftly alerted caucus-goers that they should consider voting for Ted Cruz instead.
Let's start from the beginning.
Shortly before the Iowa caucus was set to begin, CNN's Jake Tapper reported: ...

I just got PMing about this very same question. In short, the conclusion I have come to is that there are not nearly as many FReepers who share our Judeo-Christian values as I once assumed. To my mind, there is no other explanation for this massive outpouring of support for a man that represents the antithesis of almost everything our nation was founded upon.
Are you truly that naive?
Some people don’t care about the truth. They just want trump to win even if he lies. I was wanting CNN when they alluded Carson was going home not to NH or SC. Here the transcript and the video.
Here is what the video said
RE: Cruzâââ‰â¢s people took that speculation and passed it along as fact. Thatâââ‰â¢s lying.
From your YOUTUBE VIDEO:
During CNNââ¬â¢s wall-to-wall coverage of the Iowa caucuses, Dana Bash shared breaking news from reporter Chris Moody that Carson would return home to Florida after the contest.
ââ¬ÅBen Carson is going to go back to Florida, to his home, regardless of how he does tonight here in Iowa. Heââ¬â¢s going to go there for several days, and then afterwards, heâââ‰â¢s not going to go to South Carolina, heââ¬â¢s not going to go to New Hampshire, heââ¬â¢s going to come to Washington D.C., and heââ¬â¢s going to do that because the National Prayer Breakfast is on Thursday,ââ¬Â she said.
NNââ¬â¢s Jake Tapper called the announcement from Carson ââ¬Åvery unusualââ¬Â and noted ââ¬Åalmost every single candidateââ¬Â would travel directly to New Hampshire after the caucuses.
ââ¬ÅIf you want to be President of the United States, you donââ¬â¢t go home to Florida,ââ¬Â Bash responded.
On Twitter, @TheLeadCNN told its 32,000 followers that Carson ââ¬Åwill return to FL following #IAcaucus, will not go to either NH or SC.ââ¬Â The account for CNNââ¬â¢s politics section tweeted to 420,000 followers that the retired neurosurgeon ââ¬Åplans to take a break from campaigning.ââ¬Â
7:50 p.m.: Carson camp clarifies he just has to go home for ââ¬Åfresh clothesââ¬Â
Shortly before 8 p.m., a Carson spokesman tweeted the candidate was ââ¬Ånot standing downââ¬Â and was simply returning to Florida to ââ¬Åget fresh clothesââ¬Â and dodge a winter storm in Iowa. The spokesman told TPM Carson would be in D.C. Wednesday and Thursday for a ââ¬Åcampaign event,ââ¬Â and then would continue on to New Hampshire.
The campaign also disputed rumors that Carsonââ¬â¢s trip to Florida was a mid-campaign vacation, which many read as a sign he would drop out.
Just as the Iowa caucuses were beginning, some users of the Cruz campaignââ¬â¢s official mobile app received a notification saying Carson was dropping out of the presidential race. The notification cited a report from CNN.
The alert said Carson ââ¬Åwill stop campaigning after Iowaââ¬Â and urged users to tell people at the caucuses ââ¬Åthey should coalesce around the true conservative who will be in the race for the long haul: TED CRUZ!ââ¬Â
It also included a photo of a TV tuned to CNN, showing the networkââ¬â¢s ever-present ââ¬ÅBREAKING NEWSââ¬Â banner paired with the headline ââ¬ÅCampaign: Carson To Take A Break After Iowa.ââ¬Â
QUESTION: Was this an intent to LIE? Or was this simply repeating in a somewhat different wording, what CNN Originally reported?
This is what the Cruz campaign wrote: ââ¬ÅCNN is reporting that Ben Carson will stop campaigning after Iowa....ââ¬Â
How different is the above from this original CNN tweet:
ââ¬ÅBen Carson is going to go back to Florida, to his home, regardless of how he does tonight here in Iowa. Heââ¬â¢s going to go there for several days, and then afterwards, heââ¬â¢s not going to go to South Carolina, heââ¬â¢s not going to go to New Hampshire....ââ¬Â?
The wording is different but the idea is the same.
CNN was the source of this and the Cruz campaign simply repeated what CNN said.
I mean CNN lied when they called BS on Ted Cruz and did not own up to their own culpability for the story being put out in the first place.
Gotcha. You are correct.
Thanks for the timeline. Many on this thread have remained deliberately ignorant...or worse. But once the truth takes hold, everyone will see them for who they really are: just like Donald Trump!
Time to just admit it and move on.
Ted Cruz is an unapologetic evangelical. And if that's not bad enough, he is seriously smart, Ivy-League educated, and a top drawer lawyer. Many of the secularists are accustomed to cherry-picking their targets in the culture wars, and bullying people who are simply trying to live their faith but who may not be particularly sophisticated. Cruz spooks them because he's smarter than they are, and better educated, and can't be bullied.
“Ted Cruz says his campaign is designed with the assumption that the lying media would be against him from start to finish.”
If this is true, and it certainly is, then why would Cruz and his people be so very quick to pick up a MSM comment about a GOP competitor without checking it out, and instead rush off to spread the rumor to GOP caucus attendees? Doesn’t quite add up.
It shows that these people are blinded by celebrity just like Obama voters are. Never thought I’d see it on the right.
It hasn’t worked yet and they have even thrown the kitchen sink at Donald. What makes you think the American people are going to bite on the bait the Establishment is throwing out against Trump? Been there, Done that. This time we’re voting for somebody that hasn’t been bought by the Establishment and NWO advocates. Go TRUMP!
PS Ben Cason campaign is most to blame for CNN reporting that he wasnât going onto NH and SC. But he prefers to milk the story in an attempt to prolong his dying campaign by using Ted Cruz as a scapegoat...even though he knows better.
CNN never reported Carson was making a “big announcement”. That’s a complete fabrication by Team Cruz.
Tainted by CNN, Trump and the rest of the MSM. And no, I do not plan on moving on. I will keep posting new stories, but whenever a story comes up that exposes the actors behind the lies that perpetrated this phony story, I will post them every time.
‘Tricky Teddy is gonna need a bigger belt buckle for tonight’s debate.’
Too funny!
If this Post is true then the media would pick it up.
Excellent post and I do agree but to many Trump fans it doesn’t matter. They want to bring Cruz down any way they can even if it is a media lie
I don't think they are ignorant of the truth. It is just that to accept the truth would mean accepting that Trump lost fair and square. This is why the Trump supporters are keeping this story alive even more than the Carson supporters. This way they can claim that Trump REALLY won, but Cruz cheated!
So what are they going to say if Trump comes in 2nd in NH? I am starting to think that is a real possibility. Trump has lost 2% per day of his lead in the NH polls since Monday. He had a 22% lead on Monday, he has a 14% lead today. If that continues, his lead will be down to 6-8% on Tuesday. Now that seem like it would be safe for a win, but from everything we saw in Iowa, Trump has no idea of how to run a GOTV operation. He is not paying for the kind of data services that help his team identify his potential voters and make sure they get to the polls. So even if the polls on Tuesday show him ahead, a poor ground game could let Rubio slip past him. How will he and his supporters react if he loses the first 2 contests, or if he just barely wins NH after leading by 22 points less than a week out?

Your timeline only makes it more clear that the Cruz campaigned lied. Thanks for posting it.
Read the transcript or watch the video. Time to move on to the next trump created scandal. You’re only making yourself look like Obama voters when you deny the truth.
