Sometimes you wear the shirt.
And sometimes the shirt wears you.
The shirt has been wearing Donald Trump for probably his entire life.
Why? Because Trump seems to always bet on the laundry.
Trump came in second in the Iowa caucuses. He underperformed his lead in the polls by something like six points. Ted Cruz overachieved by a couple points with the swing big enough to turn Trump into the runner up.
How did this happen? Trump has been dominating the polls and the national conversation since the beginning of summer 2015.
Basically, it goes something like this: Trump bet on his name and his bravado while eschewing modern data practices that have proven to win elections over the past decade....

How much money did Trump borrow from Deutsche Bank?
Trump was trailing cruz 10 points in December. Trump is novice politician. Trump comes in second closely behind Cruz. Trump apparently did well compared to where he was one month ago.
It’s going to be a long grind.
50% more voter turnout than 2012. Trump got the second most votes ever by a Republican at a primary.
Cruz has to lose a bit of his soul by using dirty tricks on Carson. It wasn’t a tweeted photo of CNN; there was a campaign email warning of ‘news coming tonight on Carson’ in advance. That’s pre-planned and from the top.
Trump erred in not going to the debate. Lots of low information voters make their mind up last minute and they broke Rubio.
Saint Ted he ain’t.
Ted also made a big mistake with his win speech.
1. Too long. 40 minutes. Even Fox cut away.
2. Too much suited for Iowa rather than N.H. and moving forward.
3. Seemed a bit unnatural. Cruz has this tele-evangelist phony bit that he does that is alienating. He does much better calm and ‘real.’ Or at least faking that.
Cruz built the best ground game ever in Iowa and it paid off.
But I think he flipped a few thousand Carson votes with the dirty trick.
Trump did fine. 1st in N.H. and S.C. right now in polling.
But there are all these ‘last minute voters’ and the Uniparty is making Trump a non option.
I was actually worried Trump would get 10% with all sorts of tricks and low turnout against him in iowa.
It’s good that there is a lot of anger between the candidates. I worried if Trump was already in a two man race with Rubio it would be easy to rob Trump.
If Ted were to win the nomination, what does he plan on doing when the dems pull out the YouTube videos of his pastor and father claiming that Ted is a king who’s been blessed by the priest to rule during the “end times transfer of wealth,” or something like that. The Dominion philosophy and all that.
Ted was backed by a pastor in Iowa with a lot of damaging (in the general election) youtube videos.
He’s also got a billionaire with a $6 billion tax debt fight who gave him $31 million. And $705,000 from the open borders Club for Growth...
50% more voter turnout than 2012. Trump got the second most votes ever by a Republican at a primary.
This is the biggest take-away from Iowa for me. Outside of recognizing how much enthusiasm there is it’s a long way to go.
Pharisees scare me.
Trump can organize his sock draw but not his voters.
How much money did Trump borrow from Deutsche Bank?
It don’t matter.. Trump Lost big.. His big head got in the way.. He thought he could go out in the street and shoot someone and his voters would still vote for him.. You know what else Trump didn’t go down in the trenches.. He didn’t wear the right garments.. Long sleeve blue or gray shirt rolled up at the sleeve and Jeans.. Oh yea cowboy boots.
I’m a fairly quiet Christian...try as best I can to live my value. Those who wear it on there sleeve for the occasion make me suspicious.
I read tonight that he’s toned down the religious stuff now that he’s in New Hampshire. So I suppose by the time he gets to Florida he’ll be a Cuban.
Iowa is always weird.
Even Iowa’s longest serving governor doesn’t hold much sway.
Remember he told Iowa GOP voters to vote for ANYONE except Ted Cruz?
I took a degree of satisfaction in Cruz’s win, despite pulling for Trump!
