Cruz doesn’t know when to use government and when not to.

4 years ago, I would have agreed with Cruz about ending Ethanol subsidies. Because I questioned then whether Ethanol was reducing our oil usage at all. Now I think with cars designed to use it better, it is reducing oil usage. In which it just might be one of those strategic moves that helps our country.

We just went through an oil price spike, that would likely have been much worse had we not been buffering our usage with ethanol.

Cruz blindly is against all subsidies of any kind. I don’t want someone who is 100% principle and 0% strategic.

“Oil price spike”? I have no idea what you are talking about.

The reason ground beef is 6 dollars a pound is due to the fact we’re putting corn in our gas tanks. Ethanol use has had zero affect on oil prices.

Why reduce our oil usage? We have tons of oil. Moreover, cars aren’t the only machines that get fouled up because of ethanol. Try leaving that crap in a lawnmower, a chainsaw, or an outboard motor, a small generator...the list is endless. Ethanol sucks!...and it is being forced on us by the corrupt, socialist, green lobby.

Insignificant reduction of oil occurs compared to cost.

Why not make a car fuel out of camel dung, as it will do the same as ethanol at high cost?

Also, cars perform worse with ethanol as an additive, getting poorer fuel economy and it has a debilitating effect on the engine. Ethanol is disastrous for small engines and outboard motors, and requires extra and expensive equipment to transport and store compared to petroleum gasoline.

Lots of papers out there to support this, but the best are likely to be the Heritage Foundation and the George Marshall Institute. Just get on their websites and search for ethanol.

A much better energy policy could be achieved at much lessened cost by stopping renewable subsidies and the blockage of nuclear and coal for electricity generation.

If ethanol is so wonderful, it shouldn’t have to be subsidized with MY tax dollars.

Once again, we have the government picking who gets the prize. Ridiculous!!

When the Dow is struggling because of an oil glut, I think that ending ethanol subsidies is 100% strategic and 100% principle. Older cars are not built to handle ethanol, and all small engines from lawnmowers to generators have a very short lifespan on it.

Besides the fact it costs more energy to make it than it saves, it reduces gas mileage in all cars and shortens the life span. Ethanol is corrosive to Oil.

There hasn't been an oil price spike in at least the last 2 years. Last time I checked, Oil is at a 10 year low.

The only thing that has kept gas prices from going to lower market levels are all of the federally required specialty gas mixes (including ethanol) and the government restrictions on the number of oil refineries. We haven't built any new refineries in 20 years.

Because we are required to use 18 different varieties of crappy ethanol, refinery capacity is diminished even further.

That's what has kept gas prices artificially high for 20+ years!! And the ethanol gas we are forced to use have shortened our cars' engine lives and destroyed most of our small engine devices.

But the biggest lie you repeat is that there is an oil shortage. Oil is plentiful and within our borders.
