As Texas Solicitor General, he oversaw the activities of over 4000 lawyers and personally argued many cases before SCOTUS.

Reading the job descriptions are helpful. His resume screams “lawyer, govt. appointee, insider. He worked in private practice for two years.

“Oversee 4000 attorneys”. No, I don’t think so,. This job is a subset of the Attorney General’s office. “The Solicitor General of Texas is supported by two deputies, over a dozen assistant solicitors general and a highly dedicated support staff”. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/agency/office-of-solicitor-general
Lawyer job, handful of govt. people on staff.

Responsible for leading policy development and legal strategy as part of the senior executive team for the FTC. Again, Lawyer job, handful of govt. people on staff
“And an insider”
“His party credentials are unassailable,” says veteran GOP strategist Ralph Reed. “He clerked for Rehnquist, worked on the 2000 Bush campaign, and served as solicitor general of Texas in the state attorney’s office. He’s not some bomb thrower who came out of left field.” As for his political bona fides, Cruz’s labors during Bush-Cheney 2000 including legal work on the Florida recountâwon him Bush-administration postings first at the Federal Trade Commission (head of Policy Planning)”
Right-wing activists love the Texas senator’s anti-establishment persona. Which is strange, because until recently he was the consummate insider

In the end, we should just embrace the fact that Ted Cruz is an insider, Washington style lawyer. It is, what it is.
Someone from Texas commented a few weeks ago that Cruz had worked as John Boehner’s personal attorney from (IIRC) 1998-1999. Wish I knew more.
âOversee 4000 attorneysâ. No, I donât think so,.

Sorry if that’s wrong, but I know I read it on some bio.
I disagree with your contention that Cruz is an “insider”. If he is, then why are so many of the GOP-e RINOs against him? ....Answer: They know that if Cruz is POTUS he will upset their lucrative careers where they become millionaires by giving Wall Street and the Chamber of Commerce what they want.
