Hundreds of homeowners and business people, frustrated over drug and property crimes, are hiring their own security patrols to curb what they see as a long-neglected problem.
For Angie Gerrald, crime in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood has reached a new low. From illegally parked RVs to open drug deals, the longtime resident sees piles of used needles on her routine runs, she said, and other problems she says police sometimes ignore.
"The blatant lawlessness has been a whole new era" this past year, Gerrald said. "There is so little response -- so little they [police] can and will do about it."
Hundreds of residents in Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia and Fremont share Gerrald's frustration over crime and police response near their homes and businesses, and it's sparked a citizen-led movement to improve surveillance. They cite incidents of burglaries, thefts and illegal drug use over the past year, for instance -- crimes they believe are rising with the city's growth....

(Read the book. It's apropos. There's a chapter where the society described (not your typical libertarian Shangri-La) deals with an infusion of people prone to this sort of behavior. They don't last long.)
There you go again, spoiling a good Reefer Madness rant with your pesky facts.
The westerners are pursuing communism and may try to drag you along.
How about that new gun bill?
Wait...what??
They are leading the country with their high minimum wage.
The original plan to destroy whose property rights?

Agenda 21 is the screenplay for much that is going on in America today. Most of it like you say, turning the wolves loose. Western Civilization must go and we must all be cut from the same cloth with a cookie cutter, otherwise we are dispensable. It is further advanced in some other countries, but basically is growing in strength everywhere. Far too many people are too lazy to find out what Agenda 21 is and to take time to read it. If they did, they would be horrified. It’s on the net, easily access but ignored.
Getting rid of Lenin’s statue in Seattle might be a start. I imagine it is still there. If not, I’m glad.
How about leaving it up to property owners rather than government?
Everyone should be allowed to live wherever the market will allow them to live.
What’s so difficult about that?
Yeah, but everyone - buyers, sellers, and sheriffs - is ignoring the new gun transfer law. I’m actually more peeved about the transgendered bathroom rule.
I’m guessing our homeless population is also leading the way. Mild climate, liberal tendencies, and now legal pot.
Heard the Mayor say they have 2000 in shelters each night, with another 3000 on the street. They are spending $50 million so far, and he wants another $50 million. So $20,000 a year to “take care” on one homeless person. And that would be on top of food stamps and what not that the Feds give them.
Onward and Upward!
