Might there be an honorable reason Trump is trashing Cruz? Yes. Is there an honorable reason? We shall see
In the past few weeks Donald Trump has initiated his anti-Cruz campaign, referring to Cruz as a nasty man, and prior as a maniac, usually referencing the time Cruz called Mitch McConnell a liarâon the Senate floorâeven though McConnell had publicly demonstrated serial lying in every arena on the planet.
Trump, as is his signature wont, then doubled down on Cruz, indicting Cruzâ honesty in failing to report a Goldman Sachs loan on two forms instead of one form, Cruzâ alleged bias against the ethanol industry because of âbig oil connections,â and his potential disqualification for the Presidency in that he is allegedly not a ânatural born citizen,â given Cruz was born in Canada.
Why is Trump doing this? Why is he so viciously attacking the heretofore darling of the Conservative faithful? Why is he risking alienating the millions of Cruz supporters who prior to now told numerous pollsters if Cruz did not win the nomination they would vote for Trump. Even were Trump to viscerally detest Cruz, why would Trump be willing to risk so much?
Because he has the right stuff to do it to his face and not through proxies.
Why should it be a surprise to anyone that Trump is going after Cruz. I predicted it the first time the Trump/Cruz friend meme started. It’s nothing compared to the way Trump will trash Palin when he gets around with it. He will spout all the media nonsense about her being stupid and seeing Russia from her house.
I guess it must be NY values. Politics ain’t beanbag. Trump plays to win. Cruz made a huge tactical mistake going after Trump this early in the race.
To win? Every candidate should expect his opponent to point out his weaknesses. Its odd to expect that Trump should only be saying good things about his closest opponent.
Trump’s attacks are not based on policy, they are baseless and personal.
It’s leverage. If Trump can take Cruz out now, it’s all downhill to NH and beyond. No different than working your tail off early in life so you can have an easier tim later.
Like with the others, Cruz started it.
When someone begins the battle, Trump finishes it, not holding back.
No.
No holds barred, anything in play to make the deal.
He has calculated that it will help him win the general. The MSM still determines how most voters will vote. Being anti-Cruz closes off a MSM line of attack.
I like Trump less for doing it, but I want a Republican to win in 2016.
Wow, Trump was peddling birther theories for a long time before Cruz retaliated. Trump is a smear merchant and any conservative who votes for Trump will eventually hang his or her head in shame.
TRUMP has no reason to trash Sarah Palin.
Cruz had no reason to trash all of New York state, but he did, totally missing his mark. His mark was TRUMP, but being too cute, by half, and vague to boot, he trashes not TRUMP alone but collectively New York values.
Sure conservatives got it, but not all labor states would, and now TRUMP has a shot of taking New York.
I just wish TRUMP had added Pennsylvania as having those 911 values, as well.
Because it’s an election?
What do they think Hillary will do? Have a nice chat over tea?
Someone should tell Cruz that presidential elections are not like being debate club or some boring structured dance in the Senate.
If he can’t deal with this, then he needs to stop wasting his time.
Maybe they will team up by this summer? Who knows? I like them both.
Why would Trump go after Palin?
“Trump is a smear merchant and any conservative who votes for Trump will eventually hang his or her head in shame.”
Boo boo. Welcome to the blood sport known as a campaign.
No wonder the GOPe won so easily in 08, and 2012. Look at what “true conservatives” do in the wake of political war! They wring their hands and blubber over how unfair or all is.
Most likely not. But whoever said politics was honorable? I think most Trumpeteers think he will give the’RAT nominee hell whereas the rest will play nice with Hitlery or Sanders or Biden.
Trump does not know the definition of honor.
Honorable men do not lie. Forgot, he is no man but a man-child and the evidence is his childish attacks on Cruz.
You know, like every other pubbie for the last 30 years.
After all, that is the correct and accepted way to act when running for office, and attacked by the opponent.
Play nice and all.
