I think she's not a big hit because she deliberately scares the crap out of the audience instead of engaging it. Even other comedians said they didn't remember one of her jokes because of her "presence".

Color her not Don Rickles.

Or, as Samuel Beckett could have put it: There she is all over for you, blaming on her audience the faults of her appeal.

I'm guessing the demo for antagonistic, sadistic comediennes with multiple chips on their shoulders is really quite small.

The WSJ did an article on the comedy circuit in the 1980s. I think they said the market (at the time) could support around 200 full time stand-ups.

There are plenty of angry women running around without having to take the chance of spoiling a night out by actually paying to see her.

Heck, turn on pMSNBC, and there's a good chance you'll see a panel full of them.
