Put’s me in mind of Harper’s Ferry.
Well, John Brown was hung as a rebel and murderer, and idolized by many abolitionist and was a hero to the North during the Civil War. Later he lost favor with historians, but it recently seems he’s been getting a more sympathetic treatment from them.
If the armed protesters in Oregon are willing to kill and be killed and endure the vilification that goes with it, in about a century and a half they may be not be reviled, if John Brown is any guide.
Of course, the acclaim Brown gets today isn’t universal.
