I swear half the people I see riding around in those things ought to have their @ss kicked out and told to suck it up, go on a diet, and/or try to walk, exercise and toughen up like a normal human being rather than a fat-@ss victim (hence the "Wall-E person" name my family uses for them).
There are ACTUAL handicapped people out there in the world who benefit from these carts, vs. meth addicts, fat/lazy people who end up with leg issues due to trying to carry their bulk around (what ever happened to canes, walkers and diets, which would improve their condition via exercise vs. exacerbate it?), and other non-handicapped "victims" who ought to be kicked out of them to make way for real handicapped folks that actually need them.
I’m a totally & permanently 100% disabled veteran who uses them now, whereas six months ago I would just use a shopping cart to support myself. Things can change in the blink of an eye. And at 300lbs I’m sure you’d look at me as a Wall-E person hogging some “legitimate” disabled person’s scooter.
There is a Southpark episode a few years ago about the motorized carts at Walmart. If you see that episode, you will never be able to walk through the store with a straight face again. (^;
