Though some in law enforcement are concerned about the potential for an attack, other terror experts downplayed the risk.
âIt has not been in the jihadistsâ playbook,â said Brian Jenkins, a senior adviser at Rand Corp. and a top official with Mineta Transportation Institute.
Therein lies the problem. Jihadists are not going to repeat the same attacks in the same way. There strategy is not to do that. The idea that this is not a threat because they havenât done it before is beyond stupid. And if this is the thinking we can expect from intel agencies, we are doomed.
âAlleged freeway terror plot raises new worries in Southern California,â FoxNews.com, December 22, 2015
The alleged terror plot that called for an all-out assault on a southern California freeway by using pipe bombs to seal off bumper-to-bumper traffic has authorities in the state considering the viability of such an attack.
The alleged plot was revealed last week when the FBI unsealed an affidavit that included a close-up look on the plans that allegedly involved the San Bernardino terrorist and his friend.
The Los Angeles Times reported that court records said Syed Rizwan Farook and his friend Enrique Marquez Jr. laid out detailed plans of how to attack the freeway by using explosives and weapons back in 2011 and 2012. The alleged plot â that would take place during the afternoon rush hour â was aborted at some point, the paper said.

Is it too much to ask of you that her name be correctly spelled?
haha oops
I was going to say I’ve never seen that freeway here in commiefornia.
All one would have to do is stop the lead row of cars, then have teams of killers ready (even in some of the cars at a specific time) mop up from the rear while a small team prevented escape from the head-end.
It would be a murderous slaughter.
And, adequate reason to keep the AR in the trunk.
This is 3 minutes from the 1968 film “Targets.” After shooting up the freeway, the crazed sniper attacks a drive in movie theater.

Women that name themselves Paris Paradise right after the Paris attack!
Here's another view of that freeway, possibly the original photo that was 'shopped.
Interesting. But the plan seems very workable. You don’t need bombs to shut down a section of freeway traffic most anywhere at rush hour, just jackknife one 18 wheeler and you have it.
If this type slaughter ever did take place, it would be the largest stimulus for gun sales in history.
The freeway image is not of my own making. But somebody put some time into it, that's for sure.
But it sure looks like a lot of freeways in the LA area during rush hour. I used to live in Riverside and commute to Long Beach for work.
Better yet...criminals in France have been known to stop their cars on a freeway and rob the backed up vehicles.

Yep . A couple of rented U-Haul trucks and you could trap tons of cars in quickly
