I’m taking with a grain of salt because I don’t know this source.
It will sure be interesting to see if the NRA supports Trump. Of course with Trumps poll numbers, they may just want to back who they perceive to be the winner. But Cruz has been a strong advocate for gun owners for a long time. From Cruz’s website:

The NRA does not make endorsements this early in a primary.. I do not recall them ever making an endorsement in a presidential primary..
I believe this is optimism or trying to make it happen.
