Here is my take. As Rush pointed out at the time, McCain-Feingold was not on the public’s list of priorities at all. The only people who pushed it were journalists. That was true, and they got it.Why would the MSM want CFR? Obviously, CFR limits the freedom of the press of everyone but journalists. The MSM - read, the membership of the Associated Press - is explicitly exempted from any restriction. CFR is a power grab by the MSM. Take it seriously, and FR would have to shut down during election season.
It is silly to talk about freedom of speech restrictions in CFR; it costs nothing to talk. But the defining characteristic of the press, IMHO, is not the technology of printing presses and ink and paper, it is the fact that it costs money to run a press operation. The technologies such as broadcast, cable, internet, whatever, are not explicitly anticipated by the Constitution (that would have been impossible) but they are anticipated in principle. That is clear in the provision that

Trump could have gone to someone else on immigration but he went to Sessions which shows to me that Trump recognizes the truth when he hears it. I believe that he has good instincts and will listen to the right people on national defense, the economy and other matters because he has the inner compass that is pointing to true north. He is applying his good sense to politics just as he has to business.

This election is not about a man or woman as POTUS, it is about preserving our Republic. How do politicians get turned by the GOPe? I think the path is not always the same for each politician. I think on one end of the spectrum you’ve got guys like Rubio who are opportunists all the way from day one. These are the ones for whom I reserve my greatest degree of scorn.
Then I think there are guys like Walker, who allow themselves to get used by the RINO consultatnts more out of passivity and naivete than anything else.
Then you have others who get turned gradually without realizing it. More and more, they grow comfortable with the perks. They begin to self-interestedly view the status quo, which they have gradually become a part of, as necessary. They self-servingly convince themselves that all the compromises they gradually started taking were somehow unavoidable. They tell themselves that the party base is naive and just don’t understand how the real world works. This allows them to rationalize their participation in the rigged system rather than fighting it. Paul Ryan strikes me as this type, although maybe he was a RINO all along.
I think Cruz came to the senate for the right reasons, but faced with the difficult realities of financing a Presidential run when you’re not independently wealthy, he has worked with the GOPe/RINO’s out of perceived necessity, foolishly believing he could maintain his independence but in reality has compromised himself to some degree. People who make a bargain with the devil for short term gain always think they can maintain the upper hand. Cruz’s dealings with the GOPe have shown that he’s not in a position to be totally independent of their support.

Then I asked you if you were one. Clearly an observation and question, not a blatant accusation like you made.
An accusation you need to apologize for since it's unfounded and you can't back it up with facts.
The only dealings Cruz has had with the GOPe, so far as I can remember, involve calling them out as liars and corrupt members of the Washington cartel.
How have such dealings compromised him?
Thank you for sharing a very honest assessment. Not sure that Senator Cruz is compromised as you believe, but also not convinced that a very wealthy man who self funds his campaign is not without an equal dilemma. One may be beholden to big money investors and one may be beholden to no one. Which one of these men will deliver what is BEST for the people who would elect them? I personally truly hope whomever it is will be a strong Constitutionalist, believer in the Republic, Liberty, Freedom and preserving the American way.

Well, as Sundance points out, one compromise he made, and which I had forgotten was his (and Rand Paul’s) unwillingness to support Tea Party candidates like McDaniels in the last election cycle. These are perhaps small compromises, depending on your point of view, but they show an unwillingness to go against the RINO establishment 100% of the time.
