What in the HELL was she thinking??
Shared sleeping compartments, called couchettes (with 4 or 6 fold-down beds), are very common on European trains. You never know beforehand who’s going to be in the compartment with you. Europe is usually peaceful enough that this is no problem. Obviously, things are changing. You and I know staying in the compartment was a very bad idea, but what about a brain-washed young European woman who only sees these people as innocent victims to be helped and pitied?
