The Italians have conscription where all able-bodied males have to serve. Works good for them as the conscripts get minimum pay and those who decide to make it a career get a good orientation. I would be able to do that before a draft. And since men and women really are different, I would flaunt that women aren't included in the deal.
Those mass conscription programs turn out to nothing more than a massive gov jobs program. The personnel in such programs are nothing more than chaff, militarily speaking. In reality, they’re nothing more than a gimmick to futz with the unemployment numbers.
There’s also a serious rot and abuse that can come from such programs. Germany, for example, has mutated it’s mil draft into a public works. “Draftees” can now opt for all sorts of civilian jobs such as nursing home work and other such, rather than mil service, while on the gov dime. This is not at all good for the civilian industries inflicted with the no related skill having, zero motivation, under paid gov draftees.
