Everything I’ve said is directly from statements in the articles and the companies policy statements.
In fact all you really need to draw an accurate conclusion in this case is two sentences.
The statement from the company explaining their policy requiring either a passport or international drivers license from foreign drivers.
And secondly the statement from the wife decrying how unreasonable it was for the agent not to accept the license alone. Yeah, how unreasonable for a company to uphold it’s policies and procedures. They got away without the required docs last time, must be racism when they require it this time!
I’ve rented a car in a foreign country several times. I had to show passport every time, despite having frequent renter card from thrifty, budget, etc..
But you’re right, I should be up front about my true motives here.
I think we’ve all read cases lately involving social justice warriors using false accusations of racism to wreck companies and individuals.
Having read the facts of this case, I think that’s exactly what has happened here.
A lot of freepers have been totally duped into running with the bogus bigotry narrative against Avis.
Who wins? Who is rewarded? People and press who throw around false accusations of racism to make people and companies tremble.
Who loses? A brand, employees, investors, even customers all duped by a false “racist!” narrative.
I’ve even seen freepers doing research on the agent with the implication of hoping to cause her real life difficulty.
Here I see an exec, press, and freepers all embracing the methods of SJW left.
It’s disgusting when the left does it and rewards it.
If anything it’s even more disgusting when the right does it.
