We have found that we have been inconsistent in applying our policies with respect to documentation requirements with this customer, who has rented from us in the past without providing a second form of identification.

That statement tells me that;

1) They were wrong but...

2) They don't dare fire the mouth breathing racists who were working that branch that day.

Interesting that they finally admitted the customer was correct. Someone had to swallow hard at AVIS. Whomever wrote the first post (original company post blaming customer), needs to do some remedial “sensitivity” training.
