Basically, however, I think you’re really “beating a dead horse” because even if General Westmoreland were still alive, and even if we could have questioned him during the 1980’s or 1990’s, I think there’s exactly a zero chance that he could recall a brief encounter with a Detroit high-school student that had occurred back in 1969.
On the other hand, put yourself in the shoes of that outstanding high school ROTC cadet for a moment. Don’t you think you’d long remember very clearly and vividly your meeting with the Army Chief of Staff, General Westmoreland — just as if that meeting had occurred only yesterday? I know I would.
