I believe Carson never said he applied for admission, thought about it and turned it down. If one read the story one would know. Not that I read it, but FReepers who did read the entire story said the part about Carson applying was a lie, does not match his books which said he thought about it and decided against it.

So Carson turned down an admission that was never offered and which he never applied for? You should start writing for the campaign.

Here's what he said in his book, "My Life", p36:

All because I wanted to be like Curtis.
I was so proud to lead the Memorial Day parade, a heavy cluster of medals and braids on my chest. I got to meet two Vietnam War veterans who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor, as well as Gen. William Westmoreland. Later, I was offered a scholarship to West Point, which I eventually turned down. It flattered me, though, and proved that Mother was right all along when she constantly told me I could do anything I set my mind to.

In the nest chapter he talks about his hard work paying off and dozens of colleges offering him scholarships. He narrowed his choices to Yale and Harvard.

I had the book sitting here but hadn't read it and didn't intend to read it, not that I didn't respect Dr. Carson, but if I read every book by every political writer, it's impossible. I read the web.

Now Rush is saying the Politico story is an outright lie. But it seems to be about saying the campaign gave Politico something which they didn't.

Rush is defending him. I just wrote what he said. Make up your own mind.
