And calculus in high school is single variable, not multivariable. It is a rare high school student who knows what a partial derivative is, much less be able to use it intelligently.

The Communist Core swamis have lost touch with reality. They want students to be able to think abstractly but don't care to teach them prime factorization of numbers, how to do operations with fractions or even make them learn their addition and multiplication tables. Idiocy only academics could believe.

They do not want anyone’s brain to function with facts. All things are relative in their universe.

.
How can you get “single variable “calculus?

The differential of one variable with respect to another, the most basic concept of the calculus, demands at least two variables.

Do you have the slightest idea what the calculus is?

One wonders....

The problem is that the Common Core idiots don’t reallize that children do NOT think abstractly.

That doesn’t happen until teen age years.

Children not yet in puberty are concrete thinkers.

Whew! I thought I was the only one who picked up on that.

"Multivariable calculus" is college level.

Just wait until they get to functions of a COMPLEX variable.

Since it involves "imaginary" numbers, maybe Common Core IS preparing kids for advanced math.

I can't believe what a fustercluck this is.

WHO thought it was a good idea, when kids don't even grasp normal 3rd grade math?

You've got to crawl before you can walk.

You don't go from crawl to number theory.
