There is no one more pro-free speech or Islamaphobic than myself. That said, Pamela was intentionally ‘baiting’ the Muslims. Not smart, not nice, and you have to wonder about the motive. I think Trump made a correct evaluation.

so, she deserved to be MURDERED??
and the 150 people there at the event, they all deserved to be MURDERED for drawing a cartoon??

We all should just SHUT UP so the Muslims dont KILL US while they run down the street chanting DEATH TO AMERICA???

you are a special kind of idiot, Marine. And there will be no apology.

I expected YOU to know better. They are openly TELLING us they want to kill us. and people like you are hiding in the corner telling others to not make noises or else we’ll be killed. And people like me and you are supposed to stand up and stop it... yet you...want us to kneel and whisper and not set them off while they call for us to be murdered for a cartoon.

you have no honor.

It is never particularly nice to belittle people's faith. That said, in this case the point was to show that she/we/us are not afraid to do so - and therefore protect the right of free speech.

Think of it this way, if everyone drew a cartoon of the prophet Muhammad and did it in a public way the issue would fade. Muslims would know that we all have a right to do something that they perceive insults them, just as they have a right to post anti Christian/anti Western propaganda. The ones that go bonkers over this stuff would bitch and moan for a few days but with all of us standing together, there is just not much they could do - they'd simply have to accept that free people have a right to draw a cartoon no matter how offensive it is. They couldn't target everyone for death over it since there would be too many people participating.

It should not be a matter of one or two brave people making the point and putting their lives on the line, it should be all of us standing together collectively and saying "no, we aren't afraid of your tantrums. We'll draw a cartoon lampooning your religion because we have a right to do just that. Stop threatening to kill people who do it and almost no one would bother or even think to draw these cartoons".

I don't think Trump really understands the issue and the reason why Geller and some others think it is important to demonstrate that we aren't going to be held hostage by a bunch of death threats generated by drawing a cartoon.

Exactly. Trump never blamed her. When will people learn to accept the consequences of their actions?

(Not smart, not nice, and you have to wonder about the motive.)

That’s exactly the type of speech that’s protected by the Constitution, and the type of speech that she’s fighting to save by using it.
