Anyone remember?

Duck And Cover (1951) Bert The Turtle Civil Defense Film

Didn't do any of that in school because it was a little late for it (1970s) and if you stood on the roof of my school you could see the B-52s sitting on alert about a mile away. Not much chance a desk could stop that fireball.

We stood in the school hallway and faced the wall as kids in the 80s. My teacher told us this was supposed to protect us from blast debris but actually it was to make sure our bodies were in a neat line for identification and burial - the teacher had to stand outside with her attendance book that would help identify the number of dead students in the clean up.

Never forgot that bit of honesty.

We had that film and other CD films in my elementary school in the 60s... Our school was 7/10th of a mile from a SAC base as well....

Heck, we would have been vapor duck, cover, whatever...
