Animals do not—can not—have rights. The very notion is logical, philosophical, and theological gibberish.
Any law predicated on that notion is without moral force.

I was hoping someone would grab onto that. No one seemed to complain about my saying the deer carcass was his property, though.
But, semantics aside. Even people who think I shouldn’t kill a deer will agree that killing a deer is “an appropriate lifestyle choice” for this bear. And, even though he does not technically have rights personally, he is protected by law and you can only shoot him with an appropriate tag, if he’s attacking livestock, or in self defense.
