In the absence of guns, a criminal can walk into your safe little home and kill your entire family with a knife and there is very little that you can do because you spend your day typing instead of lifting weights and honing your crime skills.
You can lock your doors and he can enter through a window.
You can bar your windows and he can knock a hole in your T-111 siding and drywall in just a few seconds.
A person who is set on doing you harm cannot be deterred except by the threat that you can kill him first. He chooses the time, the place, the victim, the mode of attack, and how far he is willing to go. You cannot be locked in a saferoom all day, so something that is lethal, easy to use, and easy to carry is the only thing in the world that will save your innocent little girl from getting raped and her throat cut.
That thing is not a golf club like the idiots in movies like to use (trying swinging your club in a hallway to see what I mean). It is a gun—like it or not.
