I understand your point...but it is based on a false history. Union soldiers did not fight the war to “fee the slaves.” They fought the war to preserve the union, if we are to believe Lincoln. It is an important distinction. War was never declared and the reasons given for fighting the Confederacy revolved around preserving the union. Freeing slaves did not become part of the narrative until the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves only in the Confederacy.

All that said, yes, blacks in the U.S. would not have the freedom they have now were it not for white people. Blacks should be erecting monuments to white people...not killing them or trying to paint the entire race with a brush made by rare instances of police killing blacks without cause.

I did not mean the war was over slavery. In fact it was all over money like all wars are fought. I grew up in the 70's and was taught and studied the war a bit and slavery only became an issue once Lincoln found out he was running out of troops to send to battle. He gave his speech to free slaves so they would fight for the union since some were already fighting for the other side. Sorry if you misunderstood and i know the war at the beginning had very little to do with slavery. It was ll about money and tariffs.
