Last thought before I go back to sleep: The presence of two of the markers requires a hand search, and components can be easily assembled, so even if the threat markers are discrete and seperate, it still constitutes a threat. Assembled -- especially jury-rigged -- even more so.

Electronics can be repurposed in flight, which is the reason they make you switch on your laptop.
