J. Alexander’s is good, but it wouldn’t have been in my top five for Memphis, let alone all of Tennessee. My favorite in Tennessee is probably Folk’s Folly, but I also enjoy Jimmy Kelly’s in Nashville, Jim’s Place in Memphis, Buckleys in Memphis, Hennen’s in Chattanooga, Kayne Prime in Nashville.
And Char for Mississippi? Dunno about that either. I’d have said Doe’s Eat Place, Como Steak House over Char, or Giardina’s in Greenwood.
Anyone ever been to Ryan’s Restaurant (not that buffet place) in Winston-Salem, NC? I haven’t been there in years, but I used to love it.
I about died at Doe’s. Took a week to digest all the steak Imconsumed.
It's still around, still a nice place, still very decent steaks. Nice atmosphere, set back in the woods overlooking a creek, you'd never know you're right in the middle of town.
There's a Chop House in the airport area that's pretty good. Printworks in the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro does a fine job but it's not a steakhouse.
Have to agree with the ranking for best steakhouse in NC, The Angus Barn in RTP. Heck of a place, awesome steaks.
