What’s with all the “I’m not a Trump supporter, but . . .”?

Most of the time when I post on a Trump thread, I preface my comments with "I'm not a Trump supporter, but ...." because I'm not a Trump supporter. I don't support anyone in the race yet because (a) there's a long way to go to even the first caucus/primary and (b) anything can happen at this point.

Now, when Trump does something I like/agree with, I post that too. Am I not supposed to do that as a non-Trump supporter? Can I not as a casual observer at this point post anything pro or con about Trump? Or is that now verboten on Trump threads?

Excellent post and insights-— and I’m a Trump supporter at this juncture but not with blind allegience.

Feel free to post what you want - we still have freedom of speech for now. Just be warned - you will get attacked when you post something negative. LOL Trump supporters can be very protective of him. All candidates have their warts, so if you are looking for perfection, you will be mighty disappointed. I was in your shoes a few weeks or so ago - I had 3 or 4 I was watching and then BOOM - Trump just became my candidate of choice. I looked past his warts and heard his message. Here is a billionaire who doesn’t have to be running for office - he doesn’t need the hassles he is taking for wanting to make America great. He doesn’t need the cushy pension offered a politican either - so, that tells me - he really has his heart into changing things. So, take your time - look over the field and hopefully, you will come to the same conclusion I did. If not, then support your candidate with all your heart.

Some on this forum will attack anyone who states anything positive about Trump. I was attacked last night even though I never said I supported or wold vote for Trump. I said something positive about the Trump movement and I was vociferously attacked as a liberal moron or some such nonsense. The poster then started the same old song and dance that if Trump's the nominee they would vote independent and throw away their vote out of principal. You know, like how we lost to Obama twice out of "principal". It's deja vu all over again.

As fer as I’m concerned, you kin do as you please. I think you’ll eventually come around, anyhow. Trump won the deal in Nashville on Saturday with 56%, if memory serves. Do you need a tree to fall on you?

I'm not a Trump supporter at all, in fact I don't believe he is even a conservative. Saying that, I agree with you here. If someone in the race does something you agree with, no reason not to say so. If nothing else it displays intellectual honesty.

It just so happens for as many problems I have with "the Donald" he does do things I like quite a lot such as the immigration plan he put out, the way he sticks it to the media, the way he resists political correctness, etc.

Those are binary voters. If a candidate gets their “yes”, then they support him 100% and trash everybody else. If that candidate gets their “no”, then nothing that candidate does can be laudable or worthy. There are a ton of these kinds of voters on Freerepublic.
