TGIF, so I thought I'd take a little break from ATTAC (all things Trump and Clinton) and turn to a lighter topic. In almost 70 years of network television, the two most popular genres by far have been westerns and police. Doctor/medical dramas have always entertained audiences. But I wanted to see which military themed TV series Freepers like, and/or remember most.
M*A*S*H
I still have my Rat Patrol lunch box!
Boring?!? You must be into 100% pure adrenaline.
Do you still have the thermos that came with it?
Call to Glory (1984-1985)12 O'Clock High (1964 - 1967)
Tour of Duty (1987 - 1990)
The Wackiest Ship in the Army (1965 - 1966)
Sgt Bilko (Phil Silvers Show (1955 - 1959)
Private Benjamin (1981 - 1983)
Mister Roberts (1965 - 1966)
China Beach (1988 - 1991)
You do realize that Melody was 14 when she got the role. It was to late to recast the role when the studio found out her age. In the black and white series. She and Wilton never kiss. She was still only 15. BTW. “Baby makes her Blue Jeans Talk”.
Baa Baa Black Sheep
As with most glass lined thermos’ in the 60’s. It broke when I dropped it.
Almost all the German characters in Hogan’s Heroes were played by Jewish actors.
Irony, can be pretty ironic.
That series was "The Gallant Men".

Band of Brothers
Too bad. Those old 60's lunchboxes are very collectible and worth a decent chunk of change IF you still have the thermos.
The closing scene of "Black Adder Goes Forth" was IMHO the best show ending ever.
“Time of Honor” about the Polish Underground during WWII.
Black Sheep would be my favorite too, followed by JAG.
The Unit had the makings of a good show, but they totally destroyed it by having the commander sleeping with one of the operator’s wives. That would never happen—especially in SF. It also pretty spotty as far as writing—often devolved into a lot PC crap.
Band of Brother’s mini series. (Not for the light hearted times)
Hogans Hero’s was funny, especially with the Germans speaking in German but, by actually speaking English with a German accent.
MASH I liked when I was a kid before I recognised what what it meant to be narcissistic. (Hawkeye Pierce)
I have the DVDs for all of China Beach. And you’re right about the sound track. The music was excellent, but all of it had to be licensed, driving the cost of the DVD set through the roof.
