For the professional Republicans they dont actually care if they win or lose.
If the hierarchy, the professional political class, within the republican party loses an election to Democrats its only a lost election; they are still there, and still comfortable even in the minority.
However, if the hierarchy within the republican party loses an election to Conservatives, they are out of a job.
Big Government Democrats and Republicans are the professional political class.
Wall Street, The CoC, et al win so long as they get either Hillary or Jeb. Theyll spend what ever blillions are needed to get the election to that end.
Conservatives are already viewed by Republicans as a third party. Why do we resist it so much?

Why I Support Donald Trumps Campaign And Its Probably Not What You Think

I am not convinced that Trump actually wants to be President, but these 3 analyses by Sundance merit serious our deliberation...

oops...”merit our serious deliberation”
Is this why the debate season was shortened by the RNC by nearly six months?
In ‘12, the debates began in MARCH. And there were a lot more of ‘em.
Trump may just be Rove’s worst nightmare. In 2004, Rove’s worst nightmare was a bipartisan ticket with McCain and Kerry (you read that right. That was in the works for a hot minute in May of 2004, and when McCain/Kerry outpolled Bush Cheney (both non veterans) by 15 points.
Trump running as GOP is nearly as much of a strategic nightmare as the potential McCain/Kerry ticket was for Rove, because Trump can pick up tons of disillusioned Democrat votes.
