You want a jobs program? A "shovel ready" project? Put a bounty on illegals. That's one government jobs program I could get behind.
I will never under any circumstances support citizenship for people who's first considered action in my Country was to break our laws by setting foot in it illegally. Never. No citizenship for them nor their kids, even if they were born here.
Additionally, if we have to go to the time/trouble/expense of shipping their law-breaking backside out... I would photograph, fingerprint, and DNA sample them. They would never be allowed across the border again for any reason. No visas for education/work/visiting nothing. Lifetime ban on ever setting foot in the US again.
Megyn, there IS a pathway to citizenship...There has been for a couple hundred years....Europeans took this pathway years ago and came to Ellis Island and APPLIED for citizenship...
There are today ways to apply for US citizenship...all LEGAL...
I am also for a PATH TO CITIZENSHIP....LEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!
