So having started with Cruz and heard him speak, I'm slowly shifting to Trump because of the leadership issue. Walker is a distant, distant third, because he is "small ball" in a different way. He still hasn't nationalized his (successful) state arguments. He hasn't told the public why unions must be crushed, how they are a Dem slush fund. So either he doesn't understand it, or he doesn't want to be unpopular nationally.
You say "Small Ball"? You do realize that, that is the way you make significant change don't you? Take a look at the Obama administration, every thing is small ball and it is absolutely devastating the country. They create a distracting fake issue and make the fundamental change under the radar. Maybe you haven't been paying attention. Of all the folks running I believe Walker understand that and how to make it happen. He also seems more that willing to do it.
Thanks for weighing in LS.
I see Trump as the Mussolini that America may or may not need.
He will get the trains running on time. He will get the country working I assume.
But Trump is not a conservative. I have no idea what Trump’s ideology is other than as the populist de jure. I fear that he is anti-free trade. A big tariff guy. I have yet to hear Trump put two sentences together that explain the how or why of anything he will do.
Cruz is my guy too, but Trump is sucking in all his wind.
I like Cruz for his Reaganism. I think Rubio has the best grasp of foreign affairs. And Walker would probably be most effective in bringing education back into our schools by weakening the unions.
It’s a little more than that. Cruz is still stuck in a legislative mindset of solving problems.
>>So having started with Cruz and heard him speak, I’m slowly shifting to Trump because of the leadership issue.
Same here. America needs a leader right now, even more than it needs Conservative purity. Don’t get me wrong, we need Conservatism really bad, but we need it under a person who can say the tough things that need said.
“Your failures aren’t due to someone else’s bias.”
“Your job as a forklift driver in a factory moved to China. Did you ever even think of learning to be a forklift mechanic...or an electrician...or...?”
“College is not a place to expand your horizons and have fun. It is place to gain the knowledge that will propel you into the workforce so you can work your way to the top. If you have fun and expand your horizons while you are accomplishing the primary mission, then that’s just awesome.”
“Healthcare is a right. Getting paid to be a healthcare provider is a right. Keeping the money that you earn and spending it on your own healthcare is a right. All these rights have to work in unison.”
“It is not the job of courts to create law!”
“It is the job of Congress to make law.”
You are right about Walker. He is good VP material, but he is a light bulb next to an arc welder and an atomic bomb.
I'm just an observer at this point, but a few of the most important differences and distinctions for me have become clear. Most notable is that for some, with age and experience comes a wisdom worth following.
Trump has fought in the arena all his adult life at a level the other candidates have mostly watched from the sidelines, few of those have trained for and it's obvious.
Moreover, I believe the world has thrown every challenge and temptation at Trump that it has. He's fallen a few times, but he never quit and look at him now. He seems to be immune to the disease.
Again, the others are outsiders looking in for most of those battles still waiting for their turn...whether they know it or not. The skeletons of their failures are carefully buried. Trump's are known by the world, literally.
He is a glaring contrast for mostly all the right reasons, and in spite of his blustery persona. Fun to watch!
In the meantime, it's like one of my favorite Little Feat songs says,
"Well they say that time loves a hero
But only time will tell
If he's real he's a legend from heaven
If he ain't he was sent here from hell."
Bumping for historical purposes.
