Ezra Levan of TheRebel.Media reports yet another example of Obama's inept and dangerous negotiating skills as he sacrifices the Kurds in order to have the right to do what he has a right to do anyway.
Even though Turkey is a member of NATO, they hate the Kurds more than they oppose the Islamic State terrorists. Obama has just given the Islamic government of Turkey permission to attack our allies in Kurdistan, who are the only liberal Muslims in the region.
Obama will be gone in eighteen months but in the meantime, thousands will die as he continues to throw our allies to the wolves in the Islamic State proving once again that under Barack Obama it's more dangerous to be a so-called friend than to be an enemy.

Because they’re Communist/socialists.
They have helped fight against ISIS and did help save the Yazidis.
But PKK is on the State Dept list of terrorist groups too, so it’s complicated.
In what way has Obama "given permission" for Turkey to attack Kurdistan? Has he affirmatively said something that gave permission, or is it just from his usual failure to do what he should do prevent negative outcomes?
Maybe this has something to do with the Administrations slow release of heavy arms to the Kurds. Erdogan and Obama used to be best buds. So, not arming the Kurds wasn’t as much favoring ISIS as listening to Turkey.
Just a thought.
One thing that is never mentioned about the PPK Kurds is that they are secular Marxists. Strange bedfellows.

Throughout the past 8 yrs, many here on FR alone have accused Obama of being a socialist, a marxist, and/or an islamists. Yet some of the same talk in favor of Obama’s actions regarding the (”socialist”) Kurds. Conflicting messages?
Which does the U.S. prefer? Islamists, socialists, secularists, or does the U.S. wish to replicate any and all nations to have people and govts perfectly shaped in the image of the U.S.? The latter is not possible. Obviously, the U.S. itself has many socialists & islamists within its own rank and files, not to mention people.
Is anyone surprised? Hussein has shown that he hates any country or group that desires American alliance or just has an affinity for America. As a righteous Sunni Moslem he also dislikes heretical Kurds as much as he dislikes Shiites and Christians and Jews. Yes. He hates the Iranians, too. He is setting them up for a nuclear exchange with Israel. He hopes to destroy both thereby. I pray that when it happens we will discover that the IDF is far more advanced in anti missile technology than the Sultan knows. That might not help with the side shot at DC or New York, though. The Iranians know that their “alliance” with the most powerful Sunni in the world is not as it seems to the rest of the world.
One faction of the Kurds, the PKK, is Communist. Until the present unpleasantness there was occasional fighting between the PKK and the other Kurds. PKK is the group that was raising hell in Turkey for years. Modern Turkey, however, uses PKK as the excuse to kill off all types of Kurds because, well, they are not strict Sunni.
I’m sure the trade off was made. Now the USA gets to use its air bases in Turkiye to fly over the ISISians and dip their wings to the Caliphate.
The Turks are attacking the mountainous region along its border where the PKK reside.
Turkiye was a solid western anchor of NATO back when NATO had a raison d’être. Now the anchor of is stuck in the bottom and the rising sea level is pulling the ship under.

NATO still has a raison d’être; only Turkiye’s membership est passé.
NATO was necessary when the Soviet Union was the bogeyman. It is no more now than an excuse for the USA to avoid necessary action. The USA is the world’s policemen. Unfortunately that cop has become corrupt and is shilling for the gangs.
True, USSR no longer exists; also had a few similar comments exchanged last year I think, about NATO, including Turkey, on FR.
I still think a ‘union’ of some sort is necessary as it was originally intended by NATO. Back then there was also the Warsaw Pact vis a vis NATO?
Unfortunately, we don’t live in a ‘simple world’ anymore; Times change, it’s necessary to review NATO, its purpose and modify accordingly.
Regarding the last sentence in your previous reply, the U.S. is not the only world ‘policeman’ nowadays. And, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing to be a ‘policeman’. But, we have other ‘policemen’ whose power projection at present is not as global as the U.S. — think China. In fact, China worries me much more than Russia.
I agree the U.S., I knew 30 or so yrs ago, is no longer today the same; sad to say that. But, I still think that in today’s world we need ‘balance’ (equilibrium).
My biggest complaint and concern about contemporary U.S. govts is that they continue to actively support the Islamists. This needs to stop or seriously curtailed; if it continues on the same course, while confusing ordinary people through propaganda, conflicting messages, and basically nonsense, it will be increasingly dangerous; it’ll backfire in a big way.
China is not a “policeman” for the world. China is a street gang as is ISIS and Islam in general.
Well, if read my previous comment carefully I said: “we have other ‘policemen’ whose power projection at present is not as global as the U.S.” — the Chinese currently pursue different avenues to the U.S. for their global influence.
