You will have to wait for the notification in a few hours. It will have boot.wim file that is required for the installation. If you go to C:\ you will see $Windows.~BT. This is where Microsoft has been downloading about 5.6 Gigs to your drive in preparation for this installation. I think I’m right about this but I am not positive. We’ll know soon enough.
My 8.1 just says Update Reserved. We will let you know when you can download.
Thanks for your response. I trust what you are saying and I admit, I am not that tech savvy to do anything except get a notification to say it is doing everything on its own.
So I’m going to wake up Thursday and it will have installed itself?
LOL....I wish I knew. I always turn my computer off in the evening.
apparently it has started downloading for some people, its about 5-6 gb. Mines still showing it as reserved
I think it downloads in the background but doesn’t actually install until you tell it to.
Be sure to back up anything important — just in case ...
Let’s just say I am a little nervous about this.
Hoping this is a smooth process for all.
Do I really hafta download and install 10? I really like 7 the way it is.
ping
“Just checked my windows update and noticed WIN 10 attempted to download and failed three times.”

1 of 2 problems and maybe both:
a) is it plugged in?
b) you have a virus!
You wouldnt have these problems if you had PC-matic, now with SuperShield.
Of course it is plugged in and no virus....
awww, then buy PC-matic!
I did sign up for it. Nothing on the planet can be as bad as 8.1.
I’ve been on the Windows 10 Insider Preview program since last December. I’ve had various builds, but on the 18th of this monnth overnight it installed the final Windows 10 and would no longer accept new entrants to the Insider Preview opportunity. So I have Win1`0 free. Forever.
Mine says the same thing.
Win 8.1’s,/8.0’s problem is that out of the box it is terrible requiring alot of adjustments. But after those adjustments using “Classic Shell” to bring back the start button/menu. Its a fine OS.
I don’t know if it’s accurate, but I was told that the free upgrade to 10 doesn’t apply to folks with 7, just 8 or 8.1.
My wife has 7 on her main pc and has no interest in changing. She really likes what she has.
My laptop with 8 is scheduled for the upgrade. Sure hope it goes well.
