As I recall, that didn’t work out so smoothly the last time it was tried.

But that won’t bother Thom. He’ll be sipping Chablis in a Manhattan penthouse while others are dying for his “brave words.”

War-mongering hate speech. Put him on SPLC’s watch list.

Come on guys. We don’t want another Civil War do we?

Look at the costs of the Civil War in 620,000 lives lost (Union = 389,753 / Confederate = 289,000) and not counting other casualties. That includes the finest young men of that generation lost or maimed. And remember the population was around 31 million or about 1/10 the size of the current population. The impact was tremendous.

Also the destruction of property was extensive. Most of the destruction occurred in the South. They don’t call it “Reconstruction” for nothing. Railroads, buildings, livestock, and others things had to rebuilt or replaced. I don’t think either side won, but rather both sides lost.

From our perspective, it was a War over States Rights. It wasn’t about slavery. If so, we are owed reparations for the lives our loved ones lost in battle, the loss of agricultural labor by the abolition of slavery, the destruction of our property and infrastructure, and the general disrespect of our Southern culture by invading Union forces.

All we wanted to do was secede, form a Confederacy of like minded states, and live our lives as we saw fit without Union interference. We didn’t force any state to leave the Union and join our Confederacy to my knowledge.

Yes, the Confederacy took a licking, but we are still ticking today. Some of the old forgotten issues have been dredged up again by the liberals and socialists who would divide this nation. Southerners have never forgotten the good or bad of the war and our culture, but they have tried to leave the bad experiences in the past. The good has sustained us and we have prospered. Why can’t others respect our past as we do.

Some people predict the South will rise again, and it well may. If our Constitutional rights as States are continually denied and we are given no choice, we will push back through legislative means and finally Civil Disobedience, not war or secession as many would like to see. But if all Hell breaks loose, all bets are off. Hopefully we are better prepared than last time if there is to be a Civil War.

Respectfully, no one will win if there is another Civil War.

Should your missing brain cells reoccupy your empty head?
