Early America was blessed with great faith, in part because it was an arduous adventure to get here. People needed a greater reason than mere curiosity. That served as a filter against the lukewarm and the unbeliever.
In the context of faith, rights made sense as underscoring those things that were right in the first place.
Now they have morphed into indulgence.
Rediscovering freedom here means rediscovering God. No shortcut to it.
