Pluto has 5 moons. But it’s not a planet.
(Just keeping the record straight.)
Did I call it a planet?
Meh. After decades of insisting there was no 10th planet, suddenly astronomers found THREE. To cover their asses, they degraded Pluto BEFORE widely disseminating their discoveries. They tried to carefully create a new definition that would exclude their discoveries, but leave in tact the eight other planets. They failed. Under the definition by which Pluto was deemed to not be a planet, neither Earth nor Mars is a planet. They had added the requirement that a planet has cleared its orbit of debris. Since then, several objects have been found at Earth’s LaGrange points, prompting a new “well, that doesn’t count.”
