I don't think proving it would be a problem. A statement like "The problem is Obama has no heart. He is a loser. I think hes a coward..." is contemptuous on its face. It is not a comment on specifics of policy, it is plainly a contemptuous statement about the character of the man himself. I would be very surprised if MG Vallely wouldn't readily admit that his purpose was to express contempt.

Then kindly cite one example where a retired military officer has been returned to active duty in order to be court-martialed for violation of UCMJ Article 88. There’s only one I could find and it was dropped pdq because the politicians didn’t want to give the individual involved a larger platform.
You’re also confusing ‘contempt’ with ‘personally contemptuous’, which is a requirement for prosecution under the UCMJ. It’s never been defined either.
