I don’t think the Brits behaved all that well in India during the 19th or 20th century. Or the Caribbean for that matter. Or parts of Africa...

If one is being honest, the Brits were vicious underhanded bastards during much of their history, and they engaged in activities and behaviors that would be regarded with absolute abhorrence by most modern sensibilities.

Much of British Wealth and power came from the drug trade into China. They thought nothing of beating, whipping, executing and shanghai-ing people into their armies/navys and making them fight. They thought nothing of exterminating anyone who opposed them.

Like I said, the Brits were often very vicious bastards.

Yes but try finding them admitting that.

And, the funny thing is, Brits often admire the southern cause - I have so many friends on FB who love talking about Lee and Jackson. I can’t get them to take an interest in one of my favorites, Grant. And anyone who visits our battlefields and engages in conversation with the curators always know that so many of the tourists who drop by are...British.

As were most cultures if you go back far enough.
