It is the rule of law breaking down.
People think they have to take action themselves regardless of their other motivations.
The mass murder thing isn’t an Obama problem. It’s a mental health problem. Compare the percentage chance of a gun owner committing this type of crime, with the percentage chance for of somebody on this class of medication committing a mass killing. The difference in the probabilities will be striking.
I also believe it is a widespread pessimism about economic futures; young people today see TV shows from 20 years ago where anyone who wanted a job could get one and have some spending money. Those days are gone, replaced with an economy where many young people will never have a family, buy a home, or even own a car - while the whole time they can watch a group of older people enjoy many of those things.
