Exactly whose heritage does it celebrate?

Following the church shooting this week, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley offered powerful words of healing and said the “people of South Carolina need us to come together and be strong.”

But at the same time the state’s citizens are being urged to “come together,” the state continues to display a divisive symbol — the Confederate flag — outside the state Capitol.

Reacting to calls to remove it, Sen. Lindsey Graham said the flag “is part of who we are.”

His answer makes me wonder just who Graham means by “we.” Does he mean the white people of South Carolina? Does he mean the neo-Confederates of South Carolina? Surely he doesn’t mean the African Americans in his state whose ancestors were enslaved, tortured and murdered under the regime represented by that flag. Surely he doesn’t mean older African Americans who still recall the terrorism of Klansmen who adopted the flag as their standard during Jim Crow. Surely not.

Southern Accents except for the rare country accent will be gone in a century

Even when there is no symbolism intended, the extraordinary meaning they find in the most innocuous of things is incredible. Symbol-minded people are also sometimes difficult to have meaningful conversations with because their minds are easily tricked into taking certain keywords and combinations of words out of context to the extent that half of the time, they’re not really paying attention.

I most definitely am going to fly one now. We already fly the American flag at our house, but my husband and stepson have always talked me out of flying the Stars and Bars because of the “trailer trash” factor. I don’t care, never did-I never put that connotation on it, why should I support a narrative which is a lie which was only ever meant to demean that flag in the first place? I know my neighbors, retired people, they won’t mind, they know who we are.Anyone else-why should I care what they think, when they think what they’ve been indoctrinated to think? Anyone who just accepts the PC narrative without having it ever occur to them to question in it for themselves, while they lap up popular culture, is more “trashy” mentally than someone who at least tries to think for themselves and questions the PC narrative.

Abraham Lincoln said: “I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which, in my judgement, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position.”

Lincoln said: “Our Republican system was meant for a homogeneous people. As long as blacks continue to live with the whites they constitute a threat to the national life. Family life may also collapse and the increase of mixed breed bastards may some day challenge the supremacy of the white man.”

Now, I suggest that the black activists get busy tearing down that monument to this man who dared to speak in such a manner. If they really want to obliterate history and support their narrative, they need to make sure that no one ever finds out that most white southerners never owned slaves, were poor and that they picked cotton too.

Next, they need to go back into that “African” heritage and ancestry that they insist on pushing in our faces, find out which of their kings and rulers sold their ancestors to the Portuguese slave traders and they need to demand reparations from them.

Next, they need to read up on the more important reasons that the Confederacy objected to Northern rule and wanted to be separate; namely, that the North was taxing the Southern States at a ridiculous rate so they could spend it on the Northern ones who didn’t have as many resources.

Lincoln, like so many more politicians, didn’t need to or agree with making slavery an issue until the North realized that it might lose the war if it didn’t find a “cause” sufficient to gin up more funds and more support. (Enter the first clueless American Liberals who hit upon the idea of calling their “slaves” by the more politically correct term of “servants”. They continued to own their “servants” long after the South had been forced to give up their “slaves” These “servants” still exist today, owned and paid for with “free” benefits of all kinds. They’re known as “minority voters”. Their masters make sure that, by keeping them dependent, convincing them that they are “oppressed”(even while living in the nation with the most personal freedoms that exists on earth), that they never realize what pawns they actually are.

My Southern Heritage is a part of who I am. So is the Confederate Flag. It has nothing to do with slavery. I was never a slave owner nor were any of my ancestors. My Southern upbringing was rooted in the teachings of the Bible. Obedience to G-d, self sufficiency, responsibility for self and family, respect for parents and elders, living within one’s means, helping others and avoiding those who had no such inclinations were all part of my education. The values represented by the Confederate Flag run deep in me and many more Southerners because it is in our very blood, bones and ancestry. Blacks, slaves, bigotry have not one thing to do with it. My ancestors fought and died for the same ideals that many of our brave youth have fought for on many a foreign shore and on behalf of many a nationality not even our own. It’s the ideal of living ones’s life free of the tyranny of government interference.

I really believe that it’s those very ingrained Southern values and faith that is the real cause of such fervor to obliterate it and deliberately cast it in a bad light. The concepts simply would not allow the current Socialist/Marxist movement to prosper in this nation.

So, I ask the Socialist organizers who want to take down my flag; are you feeling lucky? Are you sure you have brainwashed enough people, rewritten enough history, agitated enough militants, gathered enough foreigners and minorities so that you can handily win the right to remove a flag that represents the heritage of many Americans? Do you feel that you can carry this off at the same time that you allow anyone who chooses to defile your own country’s flag without penalty in the name of “free speech”? Are you sure that you can run roughshod over the rights of some Americans while you allow a foreign country, Mexico, to carry, display and flaunt their flag on American soil at will?

I don’t know the answer to any of those questions and don’t pretend to. However, you had better know them before you start down this road.
