That might explain Rachel’s case. However, how do you account for so many young female seemingly start straight from self-hatred and then go down the road from there?
From what I observe (as an outsider) young girls growing up here in the States have been pampered like princesses at every turn, where does the self-hatred come from then?

A close acquaintance is the only liberal in our little group. I’ve heard him say “F***ING OLD WHITE GUYS” when pissed about some political thing. I finally called him on it and said “you are a F’ing old white guy, why the self hatred. You would never say anything like that about blacks, and you’d be mad if anyone of us did.
I think there is a tremendous amount of internalized self-hatred among whites. It may be even worse in the younger ages. I believe that one reason for the popularity of gayness is that it removes one from the hated “straight white male” category. As we’ve seen there is no repealing the “white” part of that, and as Bruce Jenner has shown getting rid of the male part is also time consuming, costly, and may not work that well.
I see it in the Conservative movement too, where many good Conservatives long to prove they are not racist before anything else. As a result really mediocre blacks are held up as if they are our saviors (I’m thinking of Alan Keys and Hermain Cain, but the same could be said to a lesser extent for both Condi Rice and Colin Powell).
You also hear this neurotic drivel like “race is a social construct” from Conservatives, who apparently don’t realize they are articulating a catechism of the left with that phrase.
I don’t believe in being over-proud of inherited characteristics, whether it’s beauty, intelligence or race. But it’s certainly a huge problem for America that our majority race has been, in large part, convinced it’s fallen and wicked. Until this is reversed we can’t really begin to fix America.
One of the things I’m looking for in a POTUS candidate is someone who can take our own side, without apology. But it’s going to take a lot more than one candidate to undo the decades of leftist indoctrination that has built in this self-hatred.

As a black woman, Rachel Dolezal got away with faking hate crimes. It was only when she was exposed as a white woman that she got into trouble. It wasn’t the lying that was the problem. It was her race.
I quibble a little with this one - the lie is no more acceptable coming from a minority faker, it is simply impossible to do anything credible about it. Witness for example the number of clearly bogus sex crimes that remain unchallenged even after the likelihood of their ever having happened resolves to zero. What is important here in these and in racial cases is not the truth but the unassailability of the complainant. This is an issue of social status, not one of justice; the two are not, despite the earnest asseverations of the Left, the same thing.
On to the real issue here, the reaction to this saga of idiocy, pretension, and lies:
Rachel Dolezal made many left-wingers uncomfortable because she embodied the absurdity of political correctness and the dark side of diversity. Her insane behavior is the outcome of an insane ideology. The social justice warriors rushing out their hot takes about her white privilege miss the central tragic point that her bizarre behavior was the logical outcome of their ideology taken to its inevitable extreme.
Dolezal's saga was and is several things, none of them complimentary. For one, it was the cold calculation of the financial advantage of minority status on Dolezal's part - a resentment against being disadvantaged at Howard by being white, and the realization that minority status could open doors to a career in the grievance industry and a cushy professorial chair. For another, it was the emotional advantage of unassailable moral superiority. For a third, it was the comfort of anything bad ever happening to her being ascribable to the malice of others toward the color of her skin even if the latter was artificially enhanced by chemicals. For a fourth, it was the pure sadism of flogging a hated class in public and in private despite her own true membership in that class.
All of these plumb the depths of human depravity: the hypocrisy, the lying, the play-acting designed to hurt others, the stubborn rejection of truth in preference to a candy-coated social fairy tale. That these are signal characteristics of the politics of the Left is something that is profoundly threatening, the more so because nearly any self-reflective Leftist knows it. Those need a dose of deep denial, and they're mixing it up and swallowing it neat.
