Donald Trump wants to run for president. He says he can beat Hillary. Sometimes Donald Trump has something good things to say, and sometimes he makes me shake my head in disbelief.
...
Here is one of Trumps economic solutions. He said Ford and other companies looking to move manufacturing to Mexico or overseas should face a 35 percent tax when they ship the goods back to the U.S. That would bring the plants back home, he argued. Thats whats going to happen, and there are hundreds, thousands of those deals, he said. I will make this country so rich if I run on the 16th [of June] just you watch.
The first question I would ask Mr. Trump is why companies would spend so much money moving their factories overseas. The answer is simple: its cost effective. Why is it cost effective? Because the corporate income tax in the United States is so high when compared to other countries that the cost of goods would be lower and Americans would actually get a better deal. At 35%, the United States has the highest nominal top corporate tax rate in any of the worlds developed economies.
It seems to me, instead of threatening to tax corporations 35%, Mr. Trump should work to lower the corporate income tax. Not only would this lower the cost of manufacturing, it would lower the cost of goods for all Americans.

Unfortunately, the opposite of too many candidates.
I don’t have the ten mill, and you have no intention of building a factory, and if I did, I’d not risk it on a factory in the USA. Disband the EPA, and local zoning, and I might consider it. How much of your own money would you be putting up, hypothetically?
Well America continues to die and “patriots” like you are the cause.
You too. You obviously won’t risk your own money on a domestic venture, but you’d love to see other people’s money do it. I have, btw, risked my own resources on a domestic venture, hiring people, and sometimes firing them. Have you, Mr. Patriot?
Oh yeah, and business is not about patriotism. Patriotism, in America, is, in part, about business, and freedom to pursue it.
Ok your words not mine.
You took that phrase right out of context. Business is about creating value and making money. If you have a problem with that, you are living in the wrong country. Move to Cuba. Oh yeah, you want Cuba to come here.
Why is he running a not pick one of the 15+ that are running?
I have a feeling Trump knows the corporate tax rate is too high and he probably would move to lower it. Otherwise you are not going to bring all the jobs home. He’s not stupid. Nobody with $9 billion is stupid.
Although China has been allowed to get away with murder for years as has Mexico and the Saudi’s. Trump has a legitimate argument about that.
I have heard Trump say numerous times that he would never really have to put the 35% tariff on he would just have to announce that he’s going to do it and the Chinese would quit manipulating. He’s probably right.
Trump also wants to re-negotiate all of our trade deals which definitely needs to be done.
If Ford wants to build a factory in Communist China, in employ communist workers, they can pay a sin tax. Hell yeah. If they want to employ Americans, and build factories in America then lower their taxes. Hell yeah.
This is the Country that almost HALF A CENTURY AGO, PUT AMERICAN MEN ON THE MOON.....something the entire world combined hasn’t been able to do since then ....not even ONCE! AND WE DID IT TEN TIMES....plus 2 SUVs. .....and when we did it we weren’t building our cars in Mexico or China
WE WERE BUILDING THEM IN THE U.S.A.
People often ask why there are no more small pickups and no more cheap pickups. There is a 25% tariff on imported trucks, so small trucks sold around the world can’t compete here. The manufacturers here don’t want to cut into the profit margin on the ever increasing in size and expense pickups they sell now.
