"I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With todays Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record. Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000 "

I'd like to hear his "assault weapon" reasoning.
72 hours doesn't sound too extended.
How does the obsession with "assault weapons", on all sides, fit in with the other "created things" worshiped in Romans 1:25+?
Maybe if Bundybots and their ilk were a little more adept at exercising their 1st amendment responsibilities, and protecting the right of others to do so (instead of inflicting novelties like the Mormon Doctrine of Blood Atonement and other assorted state-established manure upon those within their purview)... the Left wouldn't have such a big target to shoot at.
As would I. When we understand that the left has ascribed the definition of "assault weapon" (a completely made up term) to any gun they deem "scary" looking, Trump has joined their lunacy in wanting to do the same. ANY gun can look scary to a lib. But Trump apparently thinks it should be banned on this basis alone. I would like to hear him clarify that position and/or defend it.
The waiting period is something the liberals cooked up because they think that anyone who buys a gun is doing so to murder someone and they need a couple of days to cool off. If Trump looks at gun owners as likely killers, he is no friend to the 2nd Amendment. Period.
