I would say it depends on who they are dealing with. On the whole, I would agree.
We need PEACE OFFICERS, not LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. The mentality difference is why we are having the problems we are having today with everyday encounters with cops by people who are assumed to be criminals from the beginning. When calling the cops to your house becomes an avenue for regular people needing help being shot, people having medical issues being shot because they won’t “obey commands”, when the first inclination is to SHOOT, and revenue collection is the next objective, we are not dealing with PEACE OFFICERS. When the only standing order is everything went fine (including dead homeowner who thought criminal thugs were invading his home at 3 am) as long as all the officers go home, you aren’t dealing with PEACE OFFICERS.
I have cops in the family, I know what happens to people after 20 years on patrol. I know the mentality shift.

Locally we have REVENUE ENHANCEMENT AGENTS... our last Mayor got ousted for letting that little Cat out the bag.
They still are... now they just target the tourists.
