Wow. As a white, non-Hispanic, American male of parents that date their arrival and citizenship to the 1700s and to around 1900, I don’t feel too guilty about the Baltimore riots. Actually, I don’t feel guilty at all. I did not violently riot and loot. Definitely never suggested it to anyone either. Given the option, I’d have directed the police and law-abiding citizens and business owners to simply shoot looters. Okay, maybe I am guilty of intolerance. The mayor might be right to give the the rioters room to destroy their community but I’m sure glad I don’t have to live with that result. Plus, Baltimore is definitely off my to visit list and my company has canceled all activities in Baltimore for the near future, maybe for the remainder of the year.
I work for a major cruise line, I think we’ll be pulling out of Baltimore as a departure port, soon.
