I saw The Doobie Brothers and Don Felder (Eagles) last night and they still sound great.
Eagles are my all-time favorite. I never get tired of listening to them. I'm a believer in rock keeping us young!
It is a tie. George Strait’s “Ace in the Hole Band”, OR Merle Haggard and the Strangers. Very close.
Merle Haggard wrote/writes his own material, a lot of his, most of his famous songs. Not sure if that is close.
Even if people don’t like some of Willie’s ways.
Crazy that Patsy Cline sang, “Hello Walls”, those are definitely great songs among others.
In addition to all the great bands that have been mentioned, here are a few more to consider:
Edgar Winter Group
Ted Nugent
Foghat
BTO
Aerosmith
Alice Cooper
Boston
Chicago
The Classics IV
Head East
Golden Earring
Crosby Stills & Nash
Deep Purple
Emerson Lake & Palmer
Free
Huey Lewis & the News
Kiss
Kansas
Steppenwolf
ZZ Top
Tower of Power
I’m a Widespread Panic fan these days, but the best Rock band of all time has to be Led Zeppelin. I would have loved to have seen them back in the day.
Keith’s “Life” is the best rock autobiography ever done. He really is as sharp as a tack even after all of those drugs.
Very good (though slightly depressing) tagline ...
It was Glenn Frey that threatened Felder for disrespecting Cranston. He came across like a real dick in that documentary. Made Henley look open minded.
During the ‘80s, Tower of Power was “The News” that backed up Huey Lewis. It’s not surprising that you would like both of them.

Great compilation, and thanks for the work! Has no one mentioned Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention? I mean, beside me just now?
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention was mentioned favorably in two posts. You will find it in the alphabetical list under the letter “F”.
I should have said “two posts besides yours.”
Pink Floyd does it for me.
Early Trotsky Icepick.
By the way, you mentioned that line about the hemorrhoids here on FR previously, on this thread, back in June of 2006.
Me too. (My screen name that is!)
